Enter an expression and choose the angle mode
Use +, −, *, /, ^ and parentheses, with constants pi and e. Supported functions are sin, cos, tan, asin, acos, atan, sqrt, abs, ln, log and exp. Functions need parentheses: write sqrt(16). Multiplication must be explicit: write 2*pi rather than 2pi. Select Degrees or Radians before evaluating trigonometric functions; inverse trigonometric results use that same angle unit.
Worked example: a sine and square root
Enter sin(30)+sqrt(16) and select Degrees. The sine of 30° is 0.5 and the positive square root of 16 is 4, giving 4.5. In Radians, enter sin(pi/6)+sqrt(16) for the same result. Switching only the angle mode while leaving sin(30) unchanged asks for the sine of 30 radians, so it changes the answer.
Order of operations and another checked example
Parentheses and functions are evaluated first, then powers, multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction. Power is right associative: 2^3^2 = 2^(3^2) = 512. Unary minus follows exponentiation, so -2^2 = -4, while (-2)^2 = 4. Enter log(100)+ln(e) to get 3: log is base 10, ln is the natural logarithm, and exp is the natural exponential function.
Read the result and understand rejected expressions
The result includes a scientific-notation display and evaluation steps. It is a floating-point approximation, so rounding can appear even when mathematics has an exact decimal answer. The tool accepts finite real results only: sqrt(-1), ln(0), division by zero and tangent at 90° are outside its supported domain. It does not solve equations or support variables, implicit multiplication, factorials, complex numbers, symbolic simplification or stored session history. Expressions are limited to 160 characters, 100 tokens and nesting depth 30.
