How to use this calculator
Enter f(x), optional g(x), and an x interval. Use explicit multiplication such as 2*x. The result includes a plot, table, and numerical feature estimates.
Formula and method
Evaluate sampled points y=f(x). Find sign-change roots/intersections by bisection and local extrema from neighboring samples.
Worked example
f(x)=x²−4 on [−5,5] has roots −2 and 2 and minimum at (0,−4).
Assumptions and supported scope
Real finite functions only; 160-character expressions, 401 samples, x-width ≤1,000,000, |y| plot clipping at 100,000. Domain gaps and likely asymptotes are separated, but sample-based detection may miss narrow or removable discontinuities. Plot is a static SVG; no shareable expression URL. No symbolic exact roots or guaranteed exhaustive feature detection.
