Formula and method
Type-7 quantile interpolates at 1+(n−1)p. IQR=Q3−Q1; fences Q1−1.5IQR and Q3+1.5IQR. Rank counts values ≤ threshold.
Worked example
For 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,20, median=4.5; Q1=2.75; Q3=6.25; IQR=3.5; 20 is flagged.
Assumptions and supported scope
2–500 numeric values. Outlier fences are descriptive flags; no inference or error diagnosis. Quartile methods vary.
