How to use this calculator
Enter rows on separate lines or separated by semicolons; separate numbers with commas or spaces. Choose an operation. B is required for addition, multiplication, and Ax=b.
Formula and method
Matrix product Cᵢⱼ=Σₖ AᵢₖBₖⱼ. Determinant/inverse/rank/RREF use pivoted elimination. Eigenvalues of 2×2 A solve λ²−tr(A)λ+det(A)=0.
Worked example
For A=[1,2;3,4], det(A)=−2 and eigenvalues are about −0.372281 and 5.372281.
Assumptions and supported scope
1–4 rows and columns, real finite entries with magnitude at most 10¹². Inverse/solve require a nonsingular square matrix; solve B must be a column vector. Eigenvalue mode supports real 2×2 eigenvalues. Pivot tolerance is relative and double precision can affect ill-conditioned results.
